A good friend of mine has a great fundraiser.
Every year during the holiday season, his band sets up a table in the local mall and they gift wrap for donations. The boosters set up the tables and handle the gift wrapping while his students do what they do best: play music!
Not only is this a great fundraiser, it's a great way to give back to the community. It's a wonderful experience to walk into the mall and hear small wind ensembles playing classic Christmas Carols while holiday gifts are being wrapped in colorful paper and sparkling bows.
Have you taken your band caroling in the community?
Over the next couple of weeks, find opportunities to share your students' talents with an audience you don't typically reach. Take them to the mall, the local super center, a rest home, or do it the old fashion way and walk through a neighborhood and play on the sidewalks for the residents.
You'll be surprised at the audience you reach and you will undoubtedly gain new supporters in the community!
