The Final 3 Weeks of DCI!
This weekend marks three weeks before the close of the 2017 season for Drum Corps International. What started for many kids last November with weekend rehearsal and eager anticipation is now quickly coming to the culmination of the season. This weekend marks a big event in Texas, The DCI Southwestern Championship.
This event will be pivotal for many of the bands. It will mark their standings coming into the final 3 weeks of competition. Corps will make the final adjustments and changes to their show as they prepare to make their way to Indianapolis. It will define their goals for the final push of the season.
Some corps will be striving to move up a few notches in the final standings. Their goals will be personal achievement and striving to accomplish the challenges they have faced from the beginning. Their goals will be striving to increase their total points in the final push of the season.
Others corps will be vying for the coveted 1st place title of DCI Champion. They saw their initial score at the beginning of the season and realized this year's corps was something special. These corps have been meeting each other across the US. Their scores flipping from week to week. However, their goals are the same. Their goals will be personal achievement and striving to accomplish the challenges they have faced from the beginning. Their goals will be striving to increase their total points in the final push of the season.
Success is not defined by the hardware an organization brings home from a competition. Success comes defining the goals of the organization; setting a plan to accomplish those goals; and, constantly evaluating and adjusting those goals higher if the positive results are coming sooner than expected. True success comes from within it is not something that is given.
